Like every year, SANAD has created a Children’s Book Reading Tour being part of the Palliative
care month, and we managed to carry on the readings despite the economic, financial and
political circumstances. The Book reading tour aims to open the discourse
and sensitize children to the idea that death is just a part of life in a positive and child
appropriate manner.
The book “Mithla Awraq Al Shajar” follows the stages a child goes through from the moment she
knows her uncle is sick with a terminal illness to the moment he passes away and after. It has
also been substantiated by scientific evidence and guidance from psychologists on the best way
to convey this sensitive topic to children from ages 10 to 14 years of age.
SANAD held its first reading with Ana Aqra Association at Lycée Palais Des Pins Moderne in
Choueifat on 17-dec-19, then at the SDG Ghobeiri Center, in collaboration with Abaad on 20-
Dec-19 and lastly the tour continued at Lycee palais des pins moderne once again with Ana
Aqra Association and read by our psychologist, Chantal Khadra on 20 Dec 19.
