SANAD, in collaboration with Dr. Kassem Kassak, Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut, and Taawon, launched a pioneering research study within Palestinian camps.
The study aims to explore the lived experiences of individuals facing serious illnesses and their family caregivers. It seeks to shed light on the physical, emotional, social, and practical needs of patients and their families, particularly in the advanced stages of illness. The objective is to better understand the supportive factors that can improve quality of life and guide the integration of palliative care services within camp settings.
As part of the study, surveys and interviews were conducted with patients living with serious illnesses, as well as with their family caregivers. In addition, interviews were held with healthcare agencies and professionals providing services inside the camps. This initiative represents a critical step toward addressing healthcare disparities and ensuring access to compassionate, person-centered care for marginalized communities.
