Hospice care is a specific type of palliative care for patients whoseillness is at an advanced stage. Hospice care aims to relieve patients from pain and other distressing symptoms and offers a support system to help patients live as actively as possible. Its support system helps the patient’s family cope during the his/her illness and in their own bereavement.
Hospice care applies a team approach when addressing the needs of patients and their families; integrating the psychological and spiritual aspects of patient care.
Hospice care focuses on pain management and symptom control rather than curative treatment. At the center of hospice care is the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free and with dignity, knowing that our families will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.
SANAD provides free-of-charge home hospice care (through medical, social and psychological support) for terminally ill patients within the comfort of their own home, surrounded by their loved ones and family members.

A patient can expect to have more control over the care as well as a comfortable and supportive atmosphere that reduces anxiety and stress. A patient’s care plan is reviewed periodically by the palliative care team to make sure a patient’s needs and wishes are being met and that the treatment is in line with the patient’sgoals. Relief from symptoms such as pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite and difficulty sleeping are also included in the care plan.
Palliative care addresses the needs of the patient holistically. It helps patients and their caregivers carry on with their daily life while expecting the best possible quality of life.
