SANAD had the honor of hosting a session at the London Global Cancer Week (LGCW), titled:
“Palliative Care for Cancer Patients in Limited-Resource and Collective Settings: Challenges and Opportunities.”
The session, delivered by SANAD’s Quality, Research, and Development Unit, shared SANAD’s experience on how serious illness, caregiving, dying, and loss are shaped by cultural and social contexts, reinforcing the need for adaptable and culturally responsive palliative care. It also highlighted the importance of trust-building communication in societies where discussing cancer and prognosis can be sensitive or taboo.
The session also shed light on SANAD’s resilience and perseverance required to navigate challenging times including the collapse of the Lebanese economy, the COVID19 pandemic and most recently the war to sustain the provision of its free of charge palliative care services for terminally ill patients and their families while simultaneously ensuring the safety of its service providers.
